27+ years ago Mr. Huck and I married. We began as a blended family with each of us bringing one child into the marriage. Both of us had come from backgrounds that were peppered with failure, disappointment, divorce, and heartache. We also came from a place of strength, in that, both of us had been Christians for a good number of years and knew who we were in Christ. After a short time of dating, we were convinced the next step was marriage. Mr. Huck’s daughter was 21 and newly married, so she was not part of the new household we would be creating. I had been a single mom to my ten-year-old son for the entire ten years. His biological father had walked away before I knew I was pregnant.

Five months after we started dating, we were married! We point out because we were older – I was 36 and he was 41 – we had to work fast. On our wedding night we prayed and asked the Lord for more children, should it be His Will. Ten months later we had our first son together with five more pregnancies after that. So, in seven years we had five more children and one miscarriage. Needless to say, it’s been one really wild ride since our wedding day!

We have experienced it all from the highest highs to the lowest lows. There isn’t anything we haven’t dealt with, and through it all, we have had a magnificent Father God walking alongside us every step of the way. Today we have four girls, three boys, and two extraordinary daughters-in-law.

What we know to be true and constant is we serve a Mighty and Big God that loves us endlessly.

The picture was taken last summer at our son, Caleb’s wedding. Our oldest daughter passed away in 2013, and is the one missing if your counting..
